And of course mirrors in the dressing rooms help. But I'd imagine we want something in a pastel or pale color, with flow. You're very slim, something formfitting would hang awkwardly on you. Something with layers and loose, flowing fabric would help create an illusion of...a more robust form, we'll say.
[Because to simply point out 'it will make you look less sickly and wan' is hardly polite.]

Honestly, the main department store here has quite a selection, but there are boutiques in downtown Goldenrod. And seamstresses, but with the limited time, having something made would be terribly impractical.

Perhaps next year I will prepare in advance -- talk to a seamstress in February or March. These things happen yearly, yes? I certainly can't go wrong with being ready early.

We didn't even need to go that lengths, he just...doesn't care what I wear or how I dress. I've never been possessed of much modesty, it's not something I was raised with. And I work very hard to look the way I do. Human bodies need so much upkeep...

Oh god yes. Between maintaining a certain weight - for professional reasons, my brother has to be able to catch me and fling me about at great heights - and the day to day effect... it's a ridiculous amount of effort. Hair care, skin care, makeup, supportive underthings, shaving, tweezing, pinning and taping things so they stay where they ought...I have a corset and a girdle on right now.
[It was so much easier as a homunculus, all of that just...was. She didn't need to work at it. There are some things she misses about her inhuman nature, if she's honest.]
He's very sweet. But most importantly, we understand each other. That's vital to a romantic relationship, the ability to understand one another.
