[They haven't spent much time together lately, but Jean would never forget about Angel. On Christmas morning, she'll get a delivery from RahRah Bird, who will accompany the drop off with a little cheer routine--not an intended part of the gift, but a pleasant bonus--before flittering off to go say hi to Bailey.]
[Inside the package is a collection of herbal teas, along with some raw honey and fancy sugars to add to them, and a mug with a Slyveon on it to drink it from. There's also a picture that Jean drew of Angel, Krieg, and himself, with their arms around each other's shoulders and looking very happy.]
Angel has no doubt come to expect this by now - it's Valentine's Day - their third one since they came here. That morning when she wakes up, she'll be greeted by the sight of a vase filled with pink and white flowers. There's also a pink box filled with one dozen chocolate cupcakes - frosted with white and pink swirled buttercream - and a set of hair clips featuring Eevees and Sylveons.
The accompanying card is handmade - just a folded piece of cardstock, really - and he's carefully drawn a heart on the front. Not like, an anatomically correct heart, but a stylized heart typical of the holiday. He used a red marker, and it's pretty crooked, but he put the effort in. He's written her name in all caps in the middle of the heart. Inside, it reads:
Angel, you might have heard this from miss Maya already but would you like to play Dungeons and Dragonites with us? Or, I guess... it's Bunkers and Badasses where you are from, right?
The group we were going to join... didn't work out. So we want to try and start our own. We'd like for you to join too, if you are interested. Krieg too, of course.
[Armin had entered the fishing contest in the hopes of catching a nice patterned magikap that he could name after Noctis. What he hadn't dared think or hope was actually being the one who would get the golden fish!
Honestly, he's still feeling a little dazed about it all, and he needs someone to share his excitement with. Which is why Angel is getting a video of Armin grinning widely, his arms full of shiny Magikarp. No seriously, really full. Magikarp are pretty big fish and Armin is holding onto this entire wriggling monster as if it is his favourite stuffed animal.]
[About three minutes after Lance's message to the network, Angel will be able to hear the pat-pat-pat of rushing feet before Armin all but skids around the doorpost, his eyes shining fever-bright and his smile wide enough that it might actually sprain his cheeks at this rather.]
Angel! Angel, did you see?
[Someone is very excited about the announcement and as the closest person to him (both in terms of actual physical location and emotionally) Angel is going to have to field the bunt of Armin's immediate excitement.]
the first, labelled 'an acute angle' and the second, which is very definitely a picture taken of Angel when she was napping on the couch at some point, curled up with Adorababy and looking very cosy, labelled 'a cute angel'.]
Hope these help. Let me know if I need to send you two any more.
The good thing is that chickenpox torchicpox isn't one of those diseases that mutate every year like the flu, so once this is over you'll never have to worry again.
Though when you have time, it might be a good idea to see if you can get vaccinated for as many things as you can. Even if you had those vaccines in your future, the strains here might be different.
[A few stray clicks through the network history, and suddenly a call comes in from a stranger.
Or rather, Angel will find if she decides to pick up, from a Bunnelby. At first, it appears startled, but soon is chittering into the Gear as if this were a perfectly casual occurrence. Would she care to have a conversation with a naughty sweet little bunny?]
As far as snowball fights go, it had been one that can only be described as epic. Snow had been flung, loving relationships had temporarily been set aside to conduct frosty warfare, pokemon had joined in -- frankly, no words can ever truly capture everything that had happened, which is why we are not even going to attempt!
Instead, we skip to the aftermath.
After what feels like half an hour of stamping, shaking and wriggling at the B&B's door to get all the snow off them, Armin and Angel finally make it to their room. Their outwear has been abandoned by the door, with a promise by the inn's keeper to put their hats, scarves and gloves by the fire so they can dry. Thankfully, the clothes they had been wearing underneath had (mostly) managed to stay dry, but now that the intense battle is over, Armin is starting to notice just how cold he is.
"I think I forgot just how cold snow gets."
They don't get much of it on the Islands after all.
Thankfully there is a small fireplace in their room -- or rather, there is something that looks like a fireplace, wooden blocks and all, but which had instead turned out to be faked and warmed by electricity which had fascinated Armin endlessly. Right now though, the only thing he is interested in is defrosting his fingers ASAP.
Holding his hands close to the heat with a grateful sigh, Armin rubs his sock-clad feet together for a moment, before glancing at Angel over his shoulder.
[Razor seems exceptionally excited as he calls up one of his newer friends; in fact, he's practically wiggling with enthusiasm. Classic "if he was actually a wolf, his tail would be wagging" move.
As such, he hardly waits for her to greet him when she picks up. It's likely the most animated and talkative she's seen him thus far!]
Angel! Something happened! Oh -- something good. Very good. I show you? Oh, and Mari?
It's Armin and Shiro sitting in deck chairs on Armin's boat, out on the ocean. They are possibly (definitely) wearing flippy-floppies. Shiro is absolutely wearing one of his brightly coloured monstrosities for a shirt. They also both have eclipse goggles on. In the background a few pokemon can be seen too, each also outfitted with eclipse goggles. Yes, even the Electrode.
Safety first!]
Getting ready for the eclipse! Wish you could be here to see it with us. Tell Sasha not to look at the sun while it is happening. How has training been going? Miss you. ♥
[Armin has been... dawdling a little on bringing up this subject. He's not-- he's not running away from it! He's just... he's waiting for a strategic time, okay? It's not exactly the sort of conversation you can have over breakfast.
Or maybe you can, but Armin would feel pretty goddamn awkward asking Angel if she'd maybe consider giving Sasha some sex advice over breakfast pancakes.
Once evening hits though, and they are both getting ready for bed, he figures he might as well. This is as private as any occasion and the bedroom is a judgement-free zone, right?]
[Ever since Angel proposed, of course, Armin has been thinking about weddings. Frankly, it's hard not to daydream about it! But checking out some online things about weddings --idly, it was not like they were in a rush exactly-- also made Armin realise that weddings here were very, very different from back in his own world.
Which in turn makes him wonder about Angel's world. Not that he is entirely certain if Pandora has weddings --and if they do, chances are they won't be fit for this world-- but their wider universe if nothing else.
So, one slow afternoon, Armin approaches Angel when she is sitting on the couch, first dropping a kiss to the top of her head, before taking a seat himself.]
Are you busy? There's something I'd like to ask you.
