Armin fully intends to lift his shirt along with Angel, but presented with the sight of her lifting her shirt, exposing inch after inch of her pale stomach marked only by the swirling lines of her Siren mark, he freezes unable to do anything but stare. When her shirt is high enough to reveal her bra, he swallows. Hard.
He's seen those before! Angel's bras, that is. But he's only seen them in a very different context -- in their laundry basket or in a drawer. He's never seen one while it is actually on her, the fabric curving and cupping delicate soft flesh that he's only been able to dream of until now.
Abruptly he realises that Angel has set her shirt fully aside, fidgeting slightly while he is still sitting here with his on and an utterly dumbfounded expression on his face.
"S-sorry. I totally meant to take off my shirt too but--" He's flushing. He wasn't lying or tricking Angel or anything, it's just-- "You are really beautiful, Angel. I just ended up thinking that I forgot about everything else."
It's Armin and Shiro sitting in deck chairs on Armin's boat, out on the ocean. They are possibly (definitely) wearing flippy-floppies. Shiro is absolutely wearing one of his brightly coloured monstrosities for a shirt. They also both have eclipse goggles on. In the background a few pokemon can be seen too, each also outfitted with eclipse goggles. Yes, even the Electrode.
Safety first!]
Getting ready for the eclipse! Wish you could be here to see it with us. Tell Sasha not to look at the sun while it is happening. How has training been going? Miss you. ♥
[Angel sends a picture back. She's managed to find herself a nice clearing, big enough to catch sight of the sun! Not that Armin can tell, seeing as how it's a selfie of her laid out in the grass. She has a pink Sylveon halo going on and all of that.]
I will tell Sasha, of course! ... But do I need to tell Jean? 0>:)
Kidding! I miss you, too. And love you much. Training has been well. I do miss waking up to you, though.
[Armin absolutely doesn't mind that the photo is just a selfie. And really, even if she had taken a shot from further away, all he'd be focusing on would be Angel anyway.]
Jean's squinty, angry eyes are a natural defence against the sun. He'll be fine. (but really, if he doesn't know, you should tell him. I don't want him getting hurt.)
I miss waking up next to you too. And having breakfast with you. And uhm, all the other things as well.
You should tell me your travel plans. Maybe I could come down and come visit you on my days off. If Jean and Sasha won't mind.
[Will Jean and Sasha even see them if Armin comes to visit? Who knows!]
backdated to... a few days after Sasha hit up Armin for sex advice.
[Armin has been... dawdling a little on bringing up this subject. He's not-- he's not running away from it! He's just... he's waiting for a strategic time, okay? It's not exactly the sort of conversation you can have over breakfast.
Or maybe you can, but Armin would feel pretty goddamn awkward asking Angel if she'd maybe consider giving Sasha some sex advice over breakfast pancakes.
Once evening hits though, and they are both getting ready for bed, he figures he might as well. This is as private as any occasion and the bedroom is a judgement-free zone, right?]
[The bedroom is absolutely a judgement free-zone. And her mind absolutely goes to certain places the moment that Armin asks after her. She lifts her head, tilting her head with an almost shy smile. Her cheeks paint a faint pink.]
Anything, Armin, you know that.
[She settles on the bed, ankles crossed and hands folded over her lap. Is she deliberately trying to look cute.]
[Why try and look cute when it is clearly something that comes effortlessly to her? Or at least, that is what Armin would say if asked about it. In his humble opinion (not biased at all) Angel is cute every moment of the day.
Armin reaches up to rub the back of his neck.]
It's actually about Sasha...
[Which is... probably not what Angel was expecting him to say.]
[That is not at all what she might have expected. She straightens up a little, coquettish posturing all but forgotten. There's a faint glimmer of concern in her gaze. She's always been a little worried over Sasha, but trying to express it was another matter entirely.]
[Broadly speaking, things are all right. A little embarrassing maybe, but if the worst any of them has to deal with is being less experienced than their partner, then their lives are going pretty swell.]
It's-- I don't know if you know yet, but she and Jean started dating.
[As far as Angel is concerned, that's just normal couple behavior. Good on them for having great communication!
Or... maybe not so great, as she's sure to find out.]
I had seen some... indications, but I did not want to assume. Arceus knows we spent a great deal of personal time together before our relationship began. [Her expression wavers.] Are they having difficulties?
[Someone was clearly not expecting that. Her brows lift high on her forehead.]
I was not aware that she was... unfamiliar. [Though, maybe she should have been, considering the hoops Armin had jumped through before they settled into their own sort of intimacy.]
But, ah, that is actually what I wanted to ask you. Do you think-- you don't have to if this is too personal or anything but... do you think you could talk to Sasha too? I mean, you are a girl, and Sasha is a girl.
[Truly the most astute mind in the Survey Corps.]
I was thinking maybe you would be able to... emphasize better with her? About the girl side of things.
You mean... Explain sex from the feminine perspective?
[Oh boy, her cheeks are burning pretty bright at this point. It was a task getting comfortable enough with Armin! Now she has to break it down for another person?]
It should not be too much trouble, I don't think? Have you already mentioned asking me?
[Ever since Angel proposed, of course, Armin has been thinking about weddings. Frankly, it's hard not to daydream about it! But checking out some online things about weddings --idly, it was not like they were in a rush exactly-- also made Armin realise that weddings here were very, very different from back in his own world.
Which in turn makes him wonder about Angel's world. Not that he is entirely certain if Pandora has weddings --and if they do, chances are they won't be fit for this world-- but their wider universe if nothing else.
So, one slow afternoon, Armin approaches Angel when she is sitting on the couch, first dropping a kiss to the top of her head, before taking a seat himself.]
Are you busy? There's something I'd like to ask you.
[Unfortunately, Angel knows little to nothing about weddings herself. She's done her own bits of research, but most of what she can find are far too big and ostentatious for her needs. While she can appreciate the need to celebrate with close friends, the larger the wedding is, the less she can justify not inviting certain parties.
Not that the question is on her mind at the moment. Adorababy is keeping her plenty distracted with being carefully brushed, because every Sylveon deserves to be pampered as all hell.]
Not terribly busy, no. [Dora gives a little huff, to which she simply pats his head.] Not so busy that I cannot talk, at least.
It's all right. This shouldn't be a very strenuous conversation.
[It should leave Angel with plenty of attention to spare on Adorababy. Because Armin is well aware that his new rank as fiance still means very little compared to Adorababy's rank of VIP (Very Important Pokemon).]
I was just wondering... what do weddings look like where you are from?
[She tries to recall if she'd ever seen a wedding before. Photos of them, certainly, but never one in person. Those that she did know of had to be glamorous enough to make it to her rather secluded corner of the ECHOnet, and she's pretty sure Johto and Kanto were both short on Turbo Mansions.
That only left the bandits and Psychos that called Pandora home. She isn't sure if some of the rituals she's witnessed were weddings or something else, but...]
Bloody and gory, I am sure. [She grimaces.] I am not the best judge when it comes to this, I do not think. What about you?
Honestly, weddings back in my world are pretty simple, for the most part. You just wear your best clothes or borrow something nice from someone and just throw a party for the people you know.
[The concept of buying a dress or a suit just to wear once is not something most people can afford to entertain back in his world.]
The nobles sometimes throw ridiculously over the top parties, but that is more to show off how rich they are.
A party for the people we know seems more our pace.
[She can't imagine throwing a Riegfried and Soy style party. She can only usually manage one of those a year, maybe two if she counts the occasional contest.]
We could always research traditions here? This is more of our home than anything at this point. And I would rather honor our new lives here, rather than anything else.
[While it will be rather inevitable during their wedding, Armin doesn't much care for being the centre of attention during any sort of event. A smaller party with just their closest friends is much more his speed than one of those big, over the top celebrations Riegfried and Soy put together.
(Not that he judges them much for it -- unlike the wealthy people of his world, Riegfried and Soy seem exceedingly generous with their wealth -- but it is definitely not his thing)]
I like that idea. We can find something that fits us and the friends we have made here.
[A pause, and then he has to say it.]
I did see some pictures of people getting married on the beach...
[Angel can't help but laugh. It isn't cruel by any stretch of the imagination, more delighted than anything. After everything they had done together, the beach would be the best place for them to be wed.]
Would your Lapras pod be in attendance, then? [Though her tone is mildly teasing, she hopes he'll see that there's a genuine layer of curiosity there. They were one of the most important parts of his existence here -- it would only be fitting if they were.
That line of thought does sober her, a little.]
I know some ceremonies leave vacant seats in memory of those that could not be there. I should think I would like to do that.
